Samantha Retell

Samantha graduated Skidmore College in May of 2022 earning her B.S. in Dance and Social Work with Honors and currently dances and teaches locally in Saratoga Springs, NY where she has grown up all her life. In the near future, Samantha plans to build an online platform to share her skillset as well as personal blog posts about life, dance, physical/mental wellness, and more.

Aside from dance, Samantha also has a passion for music and art. Creative Arts Therapy and Dance/Movement Therapy have always been a career goal of Samantha’s following her love for helping others and personal story. When she is not exploring her artistic disciplines, Samantha enjoys spending time with her dog, paddle boarding, reading poetry, and playing guitar.

During Samantha’s time in College, she was able to dive deeply into movement exploration and choreography endeavors that ultimately brought her a healing relationship with dance as well as shaped how she approaches teaching dance to students. Her Social Work studies also allowed her to mesh her passions with various research surrounding topics such as mental health awareness and eating disorder advocacy. During her senior year, Samantha had the opportunity to work on a semester long policy-advocacy project, choosing the topic of Eating Disorder Treatment Coverage. At the end of the semester, she engaged in a virtual presentation in front of the National Association of Social Workers, New York State (NASW-NYS) where she spoke on the significant impact of this issue, raised awareness, and even connected personally with one of the NASW representatives.

Samantha is hopeful to engage in outreach with the community through her artistic interests and connect with others. She is humbled to work with Flutters of Hope Inc. to help spread their message while continuing her own self-love journey.
